– the path of understanding and love
In the Plum Village tradition, the Dharma is not only a set of teachings or sacred texts. It is the living path — the way of understanding and love that we can touch in every moment of our lives.
Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us that the Dharma is alive whenever mindfulness, concentration, and insight are present. It is found in the gentle rhythm of our breath, in the clarity that arises when we pause before speaking, and in the compassion that blooms when we see deeply into another’s suffering.
To take refuge in the Dharma is to trust the path of practice, to walk step by step in awareness, knowing that each mindful moment is a continuation of the Buddha’s realization.
The Dharma is not separate from life — it is life itself, illuminated by understanding. When we see that every action, every word, and every thought can be guided by love and wisdom, the Dharma becomes as real as the air we breathe.
“The Dharma is a beautiful raft, that can carry us across the ocean of suffering”
Thich Nhat Hanh
Each time we return to our breathing, our steps, or our smile, we are already touching the Dharma — the way of peace, available here and now.
